    Polyviscose fabric for car seats?

I want to reupholster the inserts of some sport seats in a plaid like design. I'd love to do some uberkaro or VW interlagos, but not only am I having trouble finding some, I'm not sure if I can afford to do that for a while.

The closest I can find on the cheap is some tartan like designs, with a make up of 65% polyester, and 35% viscose. I heard polyester and nylon are the material of choice, but I'm not sure about it being mixed with viscose. Will this work, or will it not last that long under the Las Vegas sun?

Unless you get a fabric specifically rated for UV exposure it'll fade and disintegrate in short order in the desert.

How crazy do you want to get? The old westfalia campers came with ridiculous plaids.

Yeah I saw a few sellers online with some nice tartans, I just asked if they were UV protected, so hopefully we'll see. If not, would there be a way to treat it? Like a spray or something?

I'm not trying to go too crazy, my first choice would be a dark gray plaid like this

but I figured this would also look good

They make a spray you can use, but you'd have to reapply pretty often on a seat since it would wear off. I would also be concerned about the weight of the material and whether it's rated for use as any type of upholstery material.

It should have one of these ratings: http://blog.kothea.com/2009/06/26/ma...s-wyzenbeek-3/
