Will an early model sunroof fit in a late model??

I have a '84 318i shell with the manual crank sunroof, and a '91 318is that had a power sunroof but it was not in the car when I bought it.

My question is, if I took the '84 sunroof components out, would they work in the '91??

I've looked around and haven't really found anything regarding this.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Just the sunroof panel? yes, you can. To be sure, just look at the mounting points. It should all be the same.

      I should've been more clear.

Will the rails and crank swap over.

But since the panels swap over I assume the rails and crank mechanism will also??

Yes, everything can swap over. I have an 89 M3 with manual sunroof conversion done by the previous owner so I don't know how hard it will be.
