    Thoughts on my dash idea. Pics inside.

    Sup.

    So my e30 has dash cracks, like most, and my only options are to either;

    1. find a crack free dash and swap it out.
    2. run a cloth cover (i hate them but it is what im running)
    3. or just deal with it

    My profession is stand up jet skis and I work with this stuff called Hydro-Turf. It is the traction pad that we use for our feet to grip the ski while riding. It looks like this on a ski

    Heres an example of color. i would use color since the color fades in the sun over time

    It comes in all sorts of colors (i would use black or grey because they wont fade) and patterns;

    1. Waffle cut
    2. Groove cut
    3. Diamond
    4. and Flat

    It retails at about 80 bucks a sheet and you use contact cement to glue it on so, once you commit, your all in.

    I would probably do either diamond, or flat. mayyybe waffle since the car is pretty square.

    Here's my buddy's 240 he just did

    so im curios what you guys think. yes, or no?

    I dig that diamond pattern. Think it could look great if done right.

      I would consider doing the flat. Is the stuff going to lift in the sun?

          Why not do the filler/patch, then flock it? Unless you want to be able to place a cell phone ANYWHERE and not have it slide...

            it can buble BUT, if you glue it right, it shouldn't. plus in the event that it does, you just poke a hole with a needle, let the air out, and press it back down. you can even inject fresh glue and press it back down if it was done some time ago..

            our skis are in the sun all day and never bubble.

              you could do that but, i dont know how to do that. plus i get rolls of hydro-turf for skis i build and i am also sponsored by them and they would dig it.

              the cell phone not sliding is an added bonus.

                I have yet to see a filled and flocked dash come out right. Every single one I see, the filled lines can be seen. I flocked a crack free dash for mine.

                I dig OP's idea, think it has potential.

                          I dig it.

                          Actually considering this vs installing the crack free dash I've been hoarding.

                            Do the diamond pattern. If it fails then get a crack free dash. I want to see this.
