Fan only working on position 4 indicates the blower resistor pack is bad. I don't believe that will effect the AC but I would replace it first just to see.

As stated above, your blower speed is because of the fan motor resistor pack. Regarding the cold AC, is the compressor kicking on when you push the AC button in? how about the aux fan?

Blower motor resistor is your answer to it not working on any speeds except 4.

You pushing in that snowflake button? Or are you turning the fan on and expecting it to shoot ice cubes?

With the ac motor behind the firewall cover from the engine side. The PN should be 64116912633. Check realeom under AC section for it. Check condensor diagram

I too have an interesting AC problem. It would work on all levels (not blower) but recently it will not turn on. Light is pressed in and lit up. Perhaps a sign of a bad compressor? Freon levels are normal r12 btw

                  OK GUYS Fixed the resistor.

Now i have another problem, It smells like Gases from the engine bay are coming in the car. Smells realy bad, any idea if the recirculation might not be working (Light turns on) or anything i could check?

                  Thanks

Problem is easy to identify, but not sure on the fix. I have this issue. The flaps on the AC box right next to the AC blower motor are stuck open or open enough to let outside air(engine smells) inside the car. The circulate button is not opening or closing the flaps. Either motor is bad or flaps got disconnected from the arm, or the flaps are just stuck. You probably opened the flaps when working on the blower motor. Last time I was in there, I just closed the flaps by hand but with time and car vibrations they opened back up. This will also cause your AC to blow out warmer air if the outside air temp is higher while it is mixing with the AC cold air. Not fun in the summer in S. FL.
