Relocating the rear view mirror on a vert

Have any of you guys tried this before? My stock mirror broke off overnight leaving this giant crack in the windshield. Pics:

So... what I want to do is obviously replace the windshield but get a coupe mirror which is mounted like so:

...And attach it to the pillar on my vert here like the coupes and sedans have em:

I would assume I would just need to drill a few holes and it should mount up. But have any of you guys attempted this before and is there a better way of mounting it?

Well in that case I may be the first to do the mod then. It would fix the wobble on the mirror as well.

So I have two options... removing the spring or cutting out the portion where the spring would sit and fit it up like normal on a coupe.

How about just glue the old mirror back? If you go through with it though, get a maplight mirror.

Eh nah... this is cooler. Maplight = heavier. Also installed. :D

Mount it on the dash like old Desotos. That's what I thought this thread would be about.
