bought this ebay usb charger for $1

took the bevel piece from the lighter part and fit them as flush as possible into the plug.
i just used the existing wiring from the cig lighter, with a switch installed which interrupts the ground so it can be turned off when not in use. the cig lighter on the e30 is an 'always on' power source, so you could kill the battery if you leave something charging.
the aux in is a 3.5 feed through, something like this
