Are e36 seats more robust than e30 seats?

Yeah, my sport seats are busted and ugly so I am researching options. I am a big guy and no diet in the world will change that.

I say go for it. A friend of mine just put e36 seats in and they fit fine (albeit with new brackets), and seem/feel more solid over all.

Wound up not going this way.

I found some RSX Type S seats for $40. The width of the rails are nearly identical at 16.5" compared to the 16.25" of the e30.

I'll just cut off the Acura mounting feet, weld on some 1.5" square tubing feet, drill holes and move on with life. :)

I'm the friend who did it. It was a very good call. Although the E30 seats hold me in slightly better, the E36 ones are more comfortable, more robust (but ~20 lbs heavier each) and allow for more adjustment options. They also look far more modern.

Very slightly, at least relative to E30 comforts. They are at an ideal height for me (6'2") when at their minimum height, and that with 7/16" thickness brackets uunderneath.

I did the RSX-S seats and they work great...but I have a new car and will be getting rid of those seats since the car is a different color.

I really appreciate the pictures of the brackets you made. Awesome work.
