There is a space between the leather and the middle/horn section on the larger 385 versions. On this you, you can see there is no gap. (At the 3 and 9 o'clock positions) This is a 370mm version.Current:

There's a gap alright but it's very small. Here's a 370mm wheel sold by Boomer a few years ago.
