Seat belt receiver resto? -- Yes We Can! Check out how...

My seat belt receivers on my sport seats work well but the red "push" button is all faded and doesn't really look all that nice. Has anyone tried to restore the look of one of these? If so, how'd you do it and are you happy with the results?

    Thanks!

I was going to do the same on mine but was just planning on using Duplicolor or similar. Any text that was originally on the button (Press? Push?) is long gone though.

I just found on the lifehacker site that they say Vaseline will do the trick. I'm thinking about giving this a shot but want to try it on a spare I don't care so much about and I haven't got one at the moment... anyone out there have one they are willing to give it a shot with?

I remember a person restoring the red seat belt push buttons on his Porsche using Rit dye.

Use the plastic rustoleum paint. The red is dead on and it takes 10 minutes.

can you actually pull the buttons out of the receivers? or do you have to tape and spray?

I didn't get a chance to do this yet. I was going to see if I could pop open the plastic case of the receiver. If that doesn't work I plan to tape and spray.

I tried everything, paint, minwax wood polisher, windex, paint thinner (bad idea), and windex. At least for me, vasoline worked. Thanks! Good Luck!
