Exactly..they look like SRD's, but they're not. Dont waste your money. I have installed these piles of shit before in customers cars...WASTE OF MONEY!!! They fall apart, fade, break and all kinds of nasty shit.Originally posted by MikeKtrue, but i really do like Josh's RECARO SRD replicas, they look so nice

I disagree. Matt325is has had a set similar to mine in his car for over 3 years now, with no issues other than the fabric where his wallet is wearing down a bit. Yes, they're cheap, and they're not made of the greatest materials, but they're not garbage. I rather like mine. In fact, the only really cheap part about mine is the fabric. The frames are actually quite strong, I was surprised. Should I decide to keep them for a long time, I'm actually going to reupholster them in leather, so that's just a small issue. And for the price, if you're on a budget, they're a good buy. And they're also pretty damn comfortable. You have to fabricate your own brackets, but it's not hard. I have pics of how I built mine, if you decide to get them.Originally posted by costanzaExactly..they look like SRD's, but they're not. Dont waste your money. Here's mine in my car (they're DIRTY as fuck, so try to look past that...)

I dunno, they look nice. But I would have trouble letting my life ride in ebay seats, I could just imagine what would happen in an accident. But then again I could very well be wrong.
I would just throw down for some namebrand seats that you know wont fuck up, I dont skimp on safety.Rollin' with a GeistkuchenComment

Josh, you always defend your seat purchase citing how long Matt has had his.
You realize how long his car is parked and unused? and how little he actually drives it otherwise?

I'm not really worried about it. I don't plan on keeping them forever. I've told people countless times, I mainly bought these because I was offered a price I couldn't turn down for my sport seats, and needed seats. They do just fine for the time being. I'll probably sell them this summer, and get the seats I REALLY want.Originally posted by JordanJosh, you always defend your seat purchase citing how long Matt has had his.

I have never really thought this as in issue. Unless you rolled the car, seats are going to do jack shit in a accident. The seat belt is what holds you in in place, not the seat, and they are attched to the chassis/frame. A seat might help if you were hit from behind, but in a crash like that, there is almost no stress put on the seat what so ever except from your body pushing on it. Not to mention, in a rollover that is bad enough to push the roof down as low as your head and into the seat, I doubt any seat would do very much in protecting you.Originally posted by equate975I would have trouble letting my life ride in ebay seats, I could just imagine what would happen in an accident.Comment

Dunno about that Andrew. In my Jetta accident both seat frames were horridly twisted, and both were completely broken into the reclined against the back seat position.Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast
