finally have a crack in my dash - 87 325is with 299k- any real fix?

Well, it finally happened. Is there anything that can prevent it from getting worse? Any fix or just mats to cover? Thanks.

I searched around a bit and it does not seem like there is much that can be done. However, I see Q-bond has been recommended. This car is no show car. It has 299k on it and it is driven almost daily and sees a lot of salt in the winter. I just don't want it to end up looking hideous. You can't even see it from the driver's view. I saw it from outside of the car. So, what are my chances of just filling it with Q-bond?

Q-bond worked good for me for a small crack. Very strong stuff. May take a couple coats with light sanding between.

IMO flocking looks cool as shit. Fill the crack with bondo/whatever and flock the whole thing.

I bought q-bond and am wondering what the procedure should be. Do I put some of the magic dust in the crack and then drip the glue on top of it? Will one shot of this work?

I filled mine with black silicone....then again, my dash has always been haggard and for some reason has never bothered me. Trying filling the small crack with epoxy maybe?

Drilling a small hole at the ends of the crack will keep it from spreading. As far as filling/repairing it, there is nothing that looks good IMO. I'd rather have a crack than an ugly repair.

I drilled a hole at the end of the advancing crack. Could I just leave it with the crack and the small hole or do I need to fill it in order to stop the advance? If I don't need to fill it, I might just leave it with the small hole.

Ignore it. Then it'll go away. :)

Haha exactly. I don't get why people care so much about it anyways:P

I don't either. I mean, I'd prefer if it weren't cracked, but it's not a priority for me.

I've seen some pictures of some other dashboards, they look like total crap. I'm trying to avoid that. The exterior is warn, the interior is in pretty good shape and the car feels great to drive. I don't feel like staring down a dashboard that looks ghetto. If it is inevitable, oh well. But, if it can be avoided, I'll spend the five minutes and give it some attention.
