I would like to purchase other aftermarket shift knobs instead of the 10 most common ones I see on everyone's car. I feel it will open my options greatly by switching to a threaded style. All the oem BMW ones are boring or simply aren't heavy enough or to my likeing.Comment

solved my own problem... cut the shifter down a bit. drilled and tapped the shifter to m10x1.5 and inserted a m10 stud. problem solved. works great and now i can buy more common knobs with some more weight. if anyones looking to do the same dont be discouraged. just take your time.Last edited by hasback; 09-01-2014, 06:29 AM.Comment

Thank you. I was on the exact same search recently for the same reason. I like a plain white ball, or bulbous white delrin. I have the resources, I contemplate making a run of something similar to the part linked above but in a common common thread with a nice taper into a shift boot retainer.
I have intended on doing this once I find a deal on a Z3 shifter rod.solved my own problem... cut the shifter down a bit. drilled and tapped the shifter to m10x1.5 and inserted a m10 stud. problem solved. works great and now i can buy more common knobs with some more weight. if anyones looking to do the same dont be discouraged. just take your time.sigpic
