Too blacken? Or not to blacken? That is the question.

"I see a red door and I want to paint it black"

I just picked up this steering wheel, one of my all time favorites, Momo Monte Carlo. 350mm, my first one that has been wood grain, and my first one with bling bling for the center.

i plan on refinishing the wood as it is severely hurt. chipped and dinged all over, not to mention massive cracks.

To keep the bling? Or to go back to black? Once you go black you never go back.... Very true saying for this ordeal.
One of my friends suggested a brushed finish.
    Pics of my wheel:

Pics of what I'm used to currently:

Pics of the same wheel, with a black center (looks fantastic) :

And finally pics of an old Momo Monte Carlo I had.

Hrm, a wood steering wheel past the 70's always seems suspect to me.

I think it would be interesting if it was black but still had wood texture.

Black. Brushed looks nice, but is very hard to maintain. Fingerprints ruin it and you have to "re-brush" it all the time.

When I saw the wheel by itself I was all "brushed, man!" But then I saw the sample from the houndstooth car and I was all "black, man!"
