Leather steering wheel finish?

Does anyone know what BMW uses on their leather wheels to make the surface shiny? I got a replacement M-Tech steering wheel cover and it doesn't look right with the rest of the interior. I'd like to put some kind of finish on it to protect the leather and restore the OEM look. Is it just conditioner or is there some kind of flexible clear coat that BMW used?

Does yours look more matte? I think you are seeing a bunch of shiny ones because thats what they look like after years of use. Every new BMW I bought the wheel starts off closer to a matte look if its a real leather wheel. Although I have never seen a brand new E30 wheel.
