    Check Panel Delete?

I'm looking for a dead plate to cover up my check panel so it doesn't have a wire cluster hanging down from it. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one?

Does it not work? Did you try another panel?

Why not just buy a used check panel from eBay to cover it, doesn't matter if it work if you don't care.

I have an extra one you can have. They never worked with my car. But a blank one from a late model 318 would work too.

What I did was convert to an e34 dome light, which fits perfect on the cabrio once you cut the divider between the stock dome light and the check panel. There is a bit of space below the dome light aftwerwards, but my top panel isn't in good shape and the leather has stretched; it may fare better on yours

The e34 dome light gets you a center dome light with a map light for each front seat: TONS of lighting over the original. Cabrios are unique in that you don't have to modify the e34 light housing to fit correctly

How did you get the dome light to work? I have done the same but from an e46. I now have the map lights and the ambient light but no dome light. When I wired the dome light, it was constantly on and the switch did not work. But, I love the amber ambient light.

The e34 dome light has 4 wires: two are ground, one is power from the door switch and one is power from the light switches. You just have to look at a wiring diagram for the e34 and a diagram for the e30 and figure out which of the two e34 wires are ground. Then you can splice them together to connect to the single e30 ground. It's really easy once you know the colors. I did have to sand every single contact on my e34 dome light, though.
