Has anyone on here thought about making the normal instrument cluster into a semi custom project. Using all new aftermarket gauges mostly overlaid I know it sounds stupid but just a question.
Possible Custom Cluster?

Really depends on the options, mine was around $600 for everything if remember correctly. That includes full refurb of the cluster, complete cleanup and solder of board, new batteries, new lighting, new gears in the ODO, fixed my brokn clips, new bulbs, gauge rings, new coding and raising my tach to 8000 rpm, Alpina strip, volt and oil temp gauges.
You can do it all or go alacart, if your cluster is in good shape you can just have them add the small parts and its much cheaper. Since I am doing a full restore on my car I wanted it like new.Comment

^Dude, that is so nice. Very nice looking cluster.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"Comment

Yea I was more so talking about starting blank slate and actually buy all new gauges including speedo and tac. cutting out a small sport for all the warning lights and obo but pretty much not using anything original. Im not going classic with my build at the moment.Comment

Still talk to them they can do just about anything, they can go very custom with overlays and gauges.Comment

you guys actually don't have to pay $320 for all that. They sell those rpm decal and cluster rings for everyone. So buy it and do it yourself for way cheaper. Just letting you know.

The main reason for this thread is because my tach only goes up to 5k and im doing the 2.5 head swap and my new redline with be around 7 how hard would it be to just change the face to the 7k tach would I have to recalibrate the tach and if so how may I go about doing that thanks for the help.Comment

change the tach to the I one. I am doing a cluster now for my turbo project. ill keep it updated in my build thread. I am going 2 5/8 speedo and tach, 2 1/16 volt, oil, fuel, boost, coolant. trying to keep the original turn signal and high beam indicators. I will put a 1/8" aluminum sheet above the original face. I gutted an extra cluster and cut all the SI board and other indicators out of the bottom to gain a little more room.Looking for late model fogs, E39 Fog lights, cool cheap 17 5x120 wheels.
