    How to install heating elements

I have a ix that has the heated seat stuff in it but I replaced the seats with seats that are not heated but I want to buy brand new heating elements and install them in the new seats. Would it be difficult to install them or do I have to take the covering off?

very simple job. Just need to prob separate the back from the base...peel up the edge of the fabric/leather....then use wooden paint sticks to slide the OEM heating elements into the seats. The heating elements have a little slip that a paint stick would fit perfectly into.

btw can you still buy the OEM heating elements new? I thought they were NLA

Anyone have experience with the wiring of replacement heating elements? Original set up is 1 plug for both elements, but the replacement elements each come with their own plug, so pins need to be moved into a single plug.

I understand how to do this in theory, but never have. Would appreciate advice from anyone who's done it, regarding level of difficulty, correct pin tool, and helpful hints/tricks.

          Thanks!
