Soooo I've been on a mission to hunt black interior pieces but here in California, it's pretty impossible to find em. And if u do, u have to pay a pretty penny for it. So I went with the duplicolor route, and it works great on the door cards. I did 3 coats and after it cured, it almost felt like my door cards came black from factory. But the issue comes with the rear shelf. It was vaccumed and cleaned and throughly dried. Did 4 heavy coats with about 20-30 min dry time in between... For the most part, all was good. Black as fresh tar poured on a pothole. But then there's one part in the middle of the rear shelf that doesn't seem to want to accept the paint (see pics). Any help, tricks or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Want to know what's up if I have a similar problem.
What did you use to clean it?

I vaccumed, and cleaned with an auto upholstery cleaner as suggested on another post and let dry. I can dismiss the cleaner or my cleaning method as the culprit cause I cleaned the whole deck the same way. But for some odd reason, only that spot was rejecting (or sucking in) the paint. After it dried, I payed another coat and its seems to have gotten darker. I'll lay another coat down tomorrow when I have sunlight... I'll let u know how it goes.

I have sprayed a rear deck with the same stuff and didn't have any problems. Maybe oil or something was soiled in the center? Try flocking it and spray several coats from different angles."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Oh yea. Charcoal would be the way to go! My carpet is also gonna be replaced to black. My bucket seats are also black. Headliner black. The only contrast I have is my shift boot, ebrake boot and sunroof headliner is a dark purple vinyl. Lol. Not the usual OEM restoration that most people do but believe me, before I got this car it looked like it was lived in by a couple of farm animals and on its way to be salvaged at a local pick n pull... Front oem sport seats looked liked it went through a bear attack and the car had more trash in it than a homeless encampment...
