    Dash and Plastic Olive Oil

Has anyone ever used Olive oil or Vaseline to retores the shine in platics or dash? Been doing to reseach, and olive oil is a much better alternative to Armour All. Was just curious if anyone has used olive oil on their dash and plastics.

    won't dust stick to it?

I have heard/read that people have used it on their dash. Never seen it in person though. They say it helps a lot and gives it a nice deep black sheen.

I was thinking of trying coconut oil for that tropical scent

I bought a crack free dash about 5 years ago and cleaned it with olive oil then never got around to installing it. I recently moved and was surprised at how good it look after being in the attic for so long. I would say it's a great method to use but can be a bit messy when applying

Its a well known way here ,we use vaseline ,i ve been using it on my dash for 10 years ,not a single crack andits looks great , you just need to use the right amount with a sponge and sweep it with a fiber cloth to remove any extra vaseline

When I had my e30's, I always used Coconut Oil. Pleasant scent, Petroleum free, and amazing sheen. It is a little sticky so it kind of attracts dust, but the dash should be cleaned bi-monthly at a minimum any ways.

Not sure why you guys would want a shiny dash. Interiors should be as matte as possible.

meguiars quick interior detailer. $5 at walmart, leaves a nice matte finish, protects from the sun, and doesn't attract dust. shiny dashes attract dust and cause glare. no thanks

oh and fuck armorall. that shit is greasy and awful. it actually also promotes dash cracking. how many professional detailers do you see slathering dashes in greasy substances to make them shiny? that's a half assed way to do it.

Would mineral oil have a similar effect? I have a crack free dash and would like to keep it that way.

I'm debating using mineral/olive oil first, buffing that, and finishing with 303 aerospace protectant.

                    Smart move, or too much?

Any kind of quality protectant should be key from UV rays. 303 should be fine.

I have been using these lately.

                        Meltonian shoe polish works great.
