Usually if the knob comes off while shifting, I'll miss and grind it pretty bad b/c I shift open handed... it's hilarious to whoever's in/around the car.

It's always a funny moment. When it happened with me, I was with all my friends in the car.... I was downshifting to 2nd to make a turn and the thing came off, so I threw it to my friends in the back and said "here, catch"
The expression on their faces was priceless
<-----them me----> :rofl:

Yea, I was going to mention that too. The walk thrus I read also said not to twist the knob. If you think about it, what that does is actually turn the linkage, not just the knob (since the knob is held in place in that little groove). (basically what he said ;))Originally posted by Smoove1Careful not to twist too much cause I did that and actually cracked the linkage. But then again, I'm huge. Oh well, it's a good thing my friend has a welder. Best bet is to pull straight up with as littlel twisting as possible.
So, yes, it's a good idea NOT to twist.- Sean HayesComment
