    Seat Weight

    Hey guys,
I am purchasing front seats from an e30 M3 and need to know the weight of our seats for shipping purposes.

So do any of you know how much our seats weigh?

Also have any of you mailed seats? He is going to put these into a Uhaul huge box and I am going to send them with my Fedex account.

    Thanks
    DJ

they are pretty heavy, about 50lbs each. I think it cost me around $45 each to ship them via UPS, but I didn't have an account or anything.

Does anyone know how people are shipping these things for around 100.00 for a pair?

I am trying to get a reasonable qoute and they all come up at like $400.00. It looks like it is going to be alittle cheaper for seperate boxes but not that much.

I put in that the weight was 50lbs and the LxWxH was 45x30x45 just to be safe. Are these the to small, to big?

Does anyone in Dallas Texas want to pick these up and ship them too me that knows how to ship them for cheap? They will already be boxed in a pair but that can be changed if we catch it fast enough. I will pay for gas, lunch, shipping if you can get it all for around 100.00.

          Thanks

are you sending them whole, or are you talking the seat back off the bottom and folding it down? I folded mine down, you get penalized pretty heavily for oversized packages.

Awesome to know. I have accounts with DHL, Fedex and UPS so I guess I can test all of them and get rates, I am just waiting on his measurements with the box.

I just shipped a set of sport seats in one box for about $130. The two boxes I made the box out of cost me another $20. Seats weigh 43lbs a pop according to the scale at UPS.

Greyhound will ship anything under 100lbs for pretty cheap.

                      Go to the bus station.

Don't they just drop it off though? I don't want my seats just sitting there in a huge box on the side walk. Is there tracking numbers or anything or do they store them in a safer place than the side walk?

they'll store them in the bus station until you come pick them up though.

at least thats what they did with the frame for my convertible top.

I just got off the phone with fedex.

The box is 22x24x34 with both seats, weighs about 100lbs.

Without using my account, which takes off about 10-15%, I can get the box "fedex ground" from Texas to Columbus for $52.50. Not to bad IMO. Thought I would pos this up so people have an idea.
