I'm thinking about getting a momo metal ball-style shifter, partly because it weighs more than the stock knob. Today I noticed how f'ing hot my regular leather shift knob gets in the summer heat and now I'm wondering if a metal shift knob will burn the hell out of my hand. Any input?

It will burn you like that girl you had the crush on in 6th grade.

Also, in the winter....don't lick it, no matter how much they dare you to.Chris

I have a Vittesse Aluminum knob and it gets hot. What's worse is in the winter when it gets really cold. It takes forever to warm up. It litteraly had frost on it a couple of times.1989 US E30 Cammed S52

I've got a stainless steel UUC knob and it gets pretty warm after being out in the sun but nothing unbearable. I'd say the top of my steering wheel gets much hotter.Comment

That sounds really dumb. Get a badass shift knob and put a sock over it to keep from being burned. Comment

get the redline air-cooled knob if you are scared. Metal gets hot in the sun, so does everything else. You will be fine.///Alpinweiß II 24v 91' 318is, Alpinweiß III 99' 323i, 04' Yamaha R6 SE for sale, 00' VW GTi, 83' El Camino BURNED, 01' P71sold, 92' Miatasold

I have a metal knob in my car, and it's not too bad. It is a little hot when you are parked in the sun all day, and it is a bit cold in the winter, but nothing that should keep you from getting that knob.
Also, my windows are tinted, which helps keep the knob from getting too hot.
