ok... ill get to it... its a ton of work and i wouldnt recomend it for anyone who isnt really good at automotive electronics but the results are well worth it.... its a good 2 day job of just wiring

ill start making a write up asap but it will probably take a while to finish since it is a long process and im kinda strapped for time lately

So how hard will it be to swap in 7 series window switches which are almomst identical in size to E30 ones and a ten dollars a piece they are hard to beat, being one touch up and one touch down? I had a couple I tried to wire in but I burnt one up and have not had time to fool with the other one yet. ANyone tried this yet. I grabbed the switches from a 95' 740i. -Dylan

any switch can do one touch up and one touch down... you just need to use the right relays

You can buy one-touch things from BavAuto. Also, take your switches apart and clean them, they'll be just like new. I had to do it to mine.

Nate. Could you tell me exactly what's involved in this mod please? I've only got power windows in the front of my Touring. Would single (front only) rather than double (front & rear) E36 switches go straight in my console? Do the harness plugs need changing too?
                        Thanks
                        Stuart.

you should be able to find a single switch bezel for an e36, the switches I hardwired into my e30 wiring harness. the e30 has 5 wires and the e36 has 4. one of the e30 grounds you dont have to use. I'll try and get what color goes where later today, I have one more window switch to do because my parts guy just now got me the last harness I needed

Thanks Nate. When I get 'round to doing the mod, I'll let you know how I get on. Could be a while though as Our Lass is in hospital and I'm having to oversee her business as well as doing my own job.
