i know the problem as this happened to me after installing an aftermarket radio. when you pm'd me yesterday i didnt understand your question.
remove your center console completely first. its not too difficult and shouldnt take long. under the carpet youll find 2 wires running from front to back. you need to tap into both wires and run jumper wires over to your tweeters. this will phase them and allow you to take full advantage of the tweeters with an aftermarket unit. BMW wires their shit weird and you cant run the factory tweeters unless you do this. if you dont mind you should take pics of this procedure and i can have them posted in the "how to" section of the forum. i didnt think to do this when i did my install. it would help others greatly and its a great way to start your membership on the forum. good luck and let me know if you need further helpLast edited by Swift; 01-26-2008, 08:52 PM.Comment

Hey kid, learn some fucking english.
Seriously, if you cannot spell or type at all, if you cannot get your point across, quit typing. Step back from the keyboard, go get some skills, learn English.
We have plenty of members on here who have English as a second language, and we can understand them just fine...in other words, they speak English better than you!
I assure you that your piss poor attempt at spelling and typing will get you banned.
Shape the fuck up, immediately.

Uh guys, you're completely messing up this poor guy. The wires he needs to tap into are the wires BEHIND the heater unit, which you really have to remove in order to do it right. At that rate he may be best off just pulling out the whole dash, it only takes me a few minutes to do. Swift: Once you get the center console out, start by removing the glove box and the panels inside, and then the knee bolster under the steering wheel. You'll then want to unbolt your pedals and pull them at least part way out, as the wires in question run behind them. There's then a bunch of plugs to remove (it's pretty self-explanatory) and some bolts on each side under the dash that hold it in. Once you undo that the dash should pull out, you may have to give it a good yank though. Then you should see the heater box, it's the big black thing in the center of the car. This is usually just press-fit in so grab a big crowbar and wedge it under there and pry it out. Once you pull it out you should see the wires you need, but of course I'm forgetting the colors. Anyone else want to chime in there? Just splice in your tweeters and put everything back and you're good to go! Installation is the reverse of removal.
Good luck!'89 325is S50 Track Montser

Green and Purple are the colors you're looking for, you'll want to bridge them with a jumper and then wire your tweeters to the jumper. BMW uses a different ground setup than most other car manufacturers so you have to know these little tricks. This was one of the first things I learned as a tech, they taught me how to wire up my stock tweeters to my alpine deck just like I described and it worked great!
Be sure to take pictures when you do this, it would make a great "How To" thread for those who come after you!'89 325is S50 Track Montser

And another thought, while you have the dash out you should really check/replace your capacitors. After 20 years they're almost certainly running at about half of their potential if not already dead. This will make a huge difference in your overall sound quality and is 100% worth the effort!
They're housed in small black box between the heater and the firewall, it's held shut with a single 10mm nut in the center. Pop it open and check all of them and if you can get new ones, replace them. Pay special attention to the flux capacitor as that one handles some of the clock functions on the car as well as the audio. Like I said, it's a real bitch to get to so it's best to just swap it now so you don't have to go back to it in the future.Last edited by Fidhle007; 01-30-2008, 05:05 PM.'89 325is S50 Track Montser

Wow. I'm on here looking for info on how to wire up the stock premium tweeters to an aftermarket head unit and aftermarket 5.25s and I come across this. The poor kid. I've read some bullshit threads in my day but this has to take the cake. The only other thread I've ever seen with this much thrusting on someone was when someone mentioned Vlad. Unreal. I've actually bought parts off some of you guys in this thread too...Comment
