"New" OEM Cabrio carpet for $2.99

Rug Doctor and Duplicolor Fabric and Vinyl has rejuvenated a $2.99 salvage yard oem carpet. The results were simply amazing.

The PO of my cabrio had glued replacement carpet on top of the existing carpet, so I tossed both and started over. Obviously, I pulled the whole interior out to shampoo and dye the carpet. I took several days for it to dry.

The armrest I scored for $100 was totally worth it too. :D

Here are some pictures. I used Desert Tan Duplicolor. It was the only tan color, so it was an easy choice. It is nice to be able to stay with the velour carpet. The carpet samples I recieved from the aftermarket companies was cheap.

Hey Thanks. I am really digging the armrest. It is at the perfect height and doesn't get in the way of shifting.

I would do that to my carpet but it was eaten away by coffee on the passengers side by the previous owner.

There was a nasty carpet stain on the passenger side of this carpet too. What Rug Doctor didn't get, the dye paint did. It really looks like 'new'.

Following you I used the same Duplicolor paint...I'm actually thinking of going over it in black because of the color variation between my seats and carpet.

My experience with duplicolor products has not been very good. The one carpet I tried to dye with it felt like shit. It was all matted and crunchy. dying dashes and headliners and whatnot it works OK but you can scrape it off pretty easily even with the proper prep.

I switched to colorbond stuff from http://www.bryndana.com
I have not tried the carpet product but the leather, hard plastic and vinyl stuff is amazing. tons of OEM colors are avaliable, you cannot feel the difference between the unpainted and painted areas, and it simply wont come off.

I did the porsche seats for my rabbit in the mercedes "java" color code and they look and feel fantastic

Wow this really sounds like an advertisement for them, Its not. I am just a really happy customer

Those came out great! I've had good luck with the inexpensive Duplicolor stuff on vinyl and the carpeted rear deck on an IS. I really think it has a lot to do with brushing between coats to keep the crunchiness down.

That is a definite. Spraying light coats also helps too.
