You know, I have no idea. When i was looking around for it online at local upholstry shops, there was no distinction between the two, or even that an special auto grade version existed... so we'll see how it hold up in the sun over time. Since it's synthetic i'm getting it'll hold up fine. The material does have a backing and is stretchable in one direction.
I got it off ebay, 4 square yards for around $40 (local shop wanted $100 a square yard! )
Install was pretty simple, remove the old carpet being careful to leave as much of the cardboard on the shelf as possible. Glue down with good auto grade high heat spray glue and take your time.
The flaws are near the hard bends.. very tough to get the material to lay flat, it likes to bunch up. And the stock vents do not sit flush (designed to fit in with thicker carpet) so I need to to figure a way to suck them down to the shelf better.
