e30 m3 rear speaker shelf

I want a rear speaker shelf w/o a 3rd brake light, but at the same time I want a premium one and I found that the e30m3 shelf looks like exactly what I want.

Would it fit a regular e30?

The m3 has more room "behind" the speaker shelf, but I wonder if the speake shelf itself is the same shape/size...

I don't see why it wouldn't fit IF you cut off the rear most section just behind those black plastic vents that you see in the picture you posted. Those are the same vents in my rear shelf and they are right up against the rear glass.

My plan: purchase early model rear deck, remove 3rd brake light, re-cover in black carpet, install my aftermarket speakers (or in your case, premium speakers)

e30 m3 and e30 speaker shelves are the same size. you have an extra little panel that is seperate from it right next to the glass on an e30 m3.

You are looking for any early model shelf, premium speaker shelves just have a bigger hole cut out of them.

The early model shelfs are different, they are FLAT and don't have the same shape as the newer shelfs with or w/o premium speakers. PLUS they have a 3rd brake light on top of the shelf or under it... I have both types on hand.

my 88 just has a hole for the wire for the 3rd brake light. as I said, all earlies are that way.

Jean, I have 2 of them, stripped of everything, ready to upholster.

I took the vents out of mine, and the speakers too.

How about $50 (+actual shipping) with damn near any color of carpet, freshly upholstered?

I can fill the brake light holes, speaker holes, how the hell ever you want it.

Luke, I was going to order a brand new one once I confirm an e30m3 shelf will fit w/o any modifcations. Do you have one where the 3rd light mounts on top and once removed can be flat and carpeted over, like the one pictured above?
