    exactly.

Im gonna have an alarm system put in sometimes next week.

I want to get a aftermarket steering wheel. Quick release would be for protecting the steering wheel, not the whole car.

I dumped the original bus wheel for an M/Tech 2 wheel, and it is awesome. Of course it is BMW so it looks right in the car, and the feel is great. It is a bit smaller than the original as well, the only drawback being I had to bend the control stalks so that they would not hit my knuckles/fingers while driving, but once they were bent back a bit, no problem.

          Hello everyone,

I want to replace my steering wheel from my 91 318is that has airbag. I don't care about losing the airbag feature and wanted to get the Mtech 2 EVO Suede steering wheel which can be found at times on Ebay. What will I need to get this to work on my 318? I've read that it is an issue due to the airbag and that the 318 has a different hub.

I have a '91 318is and a Sparco wheel + hub --- if I pull the OE airbag wheel, will I be able to use the Sparco wheel + hub? Will I have to do anything different to the install on a non-airbag car?

The main difference between the two steering shafts is that the airbag shaft has a much longer splined portion. You need a spacer between the nut and the hub to be able to tighten it down. I turned one out of aluminum but you could just as effectively use some stacked washers.

So with an aftermarket hub (Sparco, in my case), can I just add a spacer ring of about a half-inch between the steering wheel and hub?

This will be my $3.00 theft device ! If placed in an area where they will not find easy they will never be able to start your car although it could still be towed away however most car thiefs do not run around in a rollback hauler looking for cars to steal. At least there are fewer like that that most car thiefs. This is the same device that BMW uses to kill the batteries when the cars sat in port to keep from running the batteries down. We use to have to send them back to BMW a few times a year. Theirs also came with cables attached for specific cars for the ease of turning on or off from a good location. Here is the link

                      aftermarket steering wheel

just so you all know, I tried some steerign wheel from some other e30 cars.

Note, if you are 6' 1 + you do not want anything smaller than 370 and 365 is pushing it, you will loose the visibility of the gauges, some may seem its cool, but its pretty silly looking if its not orgonomically correct, just like blacking out your car to the point there is no color other than black, it looks like you are trying to hard... AKA RICE.

on other note, if you are short, it'll be okay at 350.
