    Defi Gauges

Does anyone here run defi gauges??? especially the d-gauge... i think i like them since they match the e30 stock gauges kinda with a little extra flair... what is everyones opinion on defi gauges???

Also what other gauges do you think match the e30 stock gauges well(both night and day)???... im looking for something that looks just like a stock gauge but with a brushed aluminum bezel... mabey something a little fancier... oh yeah they have to be accurate too... function over form

    thanks guys

VDO makes gauges that match our interior perfectly. No bling like you are looking for though.

defi and omori (sp?) are basically the best aftermarket gauges you can buy, you'll have to be creative getting them installed though, shouldn't be too tough, but not many european car guys run them

I dont really want "bling"... i could love to get VDo vision Gauges if they had a aluminium bezel but just being all black doesnt match my interior very well

and as for mounting them... i have a pod made up already i just need an engine that i would actually need aftermarket gauges hooked up to(swap coming very soon) and gauges to fill it... so im trying to see what my options are

i like the defi d-gauge without the black and white and red bezel over it since i think it would be very close to what i am looking for ...but again ive never seen one not in a riced out jap car... i

i just rethought what you said... do you mean where to mount them or do you mean actually getting them to operate??? please explain...

i meant rigging sensors and senders and stuff. i remember seeing plug and play type stuff. as for the actual system wiring, I have no idea

well this would be off of an s50 so the 3 gauges i would want would be:

oil temp: i would just tap the oilpan for that and use whatever sensor defi recomends...

oil pressure: Id have to look into what kind of voltage the gauge reads and what the BMW sensor puts out but if they dont match up i could use an oil distrobution block and use the factory sensor for the DME and the defi recomended sensor for the gauge

A/F ratio: i can get a 0-1v or a 0-5v signal from my AEM wideband so that should be all set

let me know if this sounds all ok since i dont physically have the engine yet and this is seriously my plan...

How much did your AEM wideband cost you? Have you installed it yet? I need to get a wideband sooner or later.

well i got it for $50 but i work at a local speedshop so i did a lil finageling to get it ... its not in yet but i am gonna put it in as soon as the s50 goes in... but i must say it looks to be a pretty nicely done piece and the tech support is the best i have seen... however the real test is how it works and i dont know that yet... this winter to next spring if i get all the parts i need by then(im pretty sure i will) we will see how it does on an s50e30 and ill report back

eventually id like to get the AEM EMS hooked up on the s50 as well and dicth the MAF and run MAP.... but i would need to do a bit more reasearch as well as find wiring diagrams for both the e30 and e36(anybody have any???)
