I thought you had the one pictured where it was a wedge socket that plugged into the twist base adapter. The wedge socket is what I was originally referring to.
Yeah thats what I was referring to.

The dome light in my vert use the adapter to the far right. I install that and the wire supplied to the led board. Nothing! And as you can see the other festoon bulb (tube looking) to the left has a neg/pos polarity. Shiet I'm thinking its the led board. I'll find out when I use those festoon bulb adapter tomorrow.

i did it to my cabby a while back, its a much need light upgrade.
i used two leds and soldered them in with a resistor, you can figure it out online pretty easy. hot glued the leds aimed at the two front seats, and its the best 2-3 dollars and an hour ive ever spent on the e30.

if you ask nicely, and really still need the help, ill be glad to dig out my old write-up/ pics on it.

Thanks for you write up. Unfortunately I bought a plug and play led bulb, and i you read I'm having a problem with the led board.

try reversing how it is plugged in!!!
LED's have polarity, regular bulbs do not.

Are you referring to wiring? If so the wire only has one way of plugging into the led board and adapter.

the entire bulb shaped adaptor, pull it out and give it a 180 so that which contacts are touching the socket get swapped. Same effect as flipping the wire plug.

Just checked it and its solder to the metal base. I'm going to run down to the car and use the festoon bulb adapter, if that doesn't work than I think the led board is bad.

So I used the festoon bulb adapter and the led board works. I tried the metal round adapter again and tried installing it again still nothing. But i did notice when I installed it and turn the dome light on, the led board was starting to get a bit warm. So what gives? Bad adapter? Not enough power from the dome light? I used the trunk light for the festoon bulb adapter.

i have 4 of these kits on my 87 e30.. both interior and both plate lights...

                        works well...

on the other hand i have a bunch of extra's plugs for theses kits... and im triying to figure out how to make the "LEd part" that plugs in to the base.. then i can use the rest of the stuff that comes with these kits....

1 led (unit) and 5 connection ends
so i have 16 ends laying around with no leds to use..
