    IX carpet differences?

I'm getting a feeling that there is a difference between IX carpet and sedan carpet.

I bought IX grey carpet a while ago and have replaced the carpet in my 4 door.

Now, every where it fits good but 1 place. On the passenger side by the glovebox, there seems to be more padding. It won't allow the interior center console to go into its full "in" postion (only on that side). The thing is, everything lines up. The seat holes, the holes for the center console in the middle....everything. I have tried to span myself in the car and kick it toward the front of the car...I have tried lifting and pushing forward. I've also tried tucking and not tucking it under the sound deadening by the glovebox hinge

Maybe its just stuck? I don't know, maybe I didn't tuck it under the hinge enough...I don't think it can go any further. I have almost rebuilt the entire car..interior and drivetrain and the carpet is the worst part

    Anyone have any suggestions?

it is different, although to my knowledge it's the driver's side transmission tunnel that is unique, where the hump for the transfer case is.

I remember you actually telling me that before...if thats the case this isn't from an IX. There is no extra hump any where just is coming up awkward on the passenger side.

I took it out and put it in again and its still sitting weird. Its reaching, just not sitting well and taking to much space up on the tunnel side of the passenger side so the center console can't go all the way in. I don't want to do it wrong but I might just trim the panel alittle so it sits correctly. I'm thinking that the glovebox will hide it, unless you really look.

maybe it's a knock-off brand and not OEM BMW?

Hmm...I'm pretty sure that its OEM. Is it an obvious bump for the tc? Its from Canada though so that explains it. .

Edit: Heres a stupid thing that I totally looked over. My firewall is modified...holy shit what an idiot. And the PO went alitttle into the opening of the tunnel

To my knowledge, no one is really making true knock-off carpet for the E30, due to the integrated molded pad. The aftermarket carpet that is available, has no molded pad, and is generally designed to lay OVER your existing carpet.

In other words, if it was aftermarket carpet, you would know it right away because it wouldn't lay on the bare floorpan correctly at all.

well I trimmed it alittle bit at the end and it fits perfect now and, unless you look really hard, you can't see a difference.
