    Help on e30 sport seats

I'm looking at a set (see pics below) of e30 sport seats. The seller says these are recaros, but I don't think they are true recaros but just regular stock e30 sport seats. They are in really rough condition, but the price is pretty low. And I believe all the mechanics work, so they would just need to be reupholstered. One other thing; I was googling for pics of e30 sports seats, and it seems a lot of them have vertical stitching, where these have the horizontal stitching. Are the vertical stitching seats vinyl where the horizontal (below) are leather? Just trying to figure out the story of these seats and what the cost could be on reupholstering them. The seller did mention he has this sample from a company that makes $300 upholstery kits, but I am very skeptical.

    These are not Recaros.
    These are Recaros: https://www.carid.com/recaro/

Convertibles and sedans have different stitching. Also, some have double stitching.

It seems that these seats need new foams.
    Most need after 30 years.

You can easily distinguish vinyl seats - they're perforated.

Remember, people will also try to call these M3 seats (horizontally stitched, just like convertibles) to take advantage of buyers. Most likely these are just seats from a convertible, and in reality they are worth perhaps $200, even if awful people want to ask much more than that.

        Check these seats.
Bid for the chance to own a Original-Owner 41k-Mile 1990 BMW 325is at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #26,219.

If the owner tries to sell them for $1,000, they will be snatched in no time.

Yep, convertible seats - circa 1988 I'd say.
Looks like they are heated as well (lead & connector underneath the bottom seat cushion picture)

My 1988 convertible has it's original tan vinyl seats. They are not perforated. Maybe perforation was an option?
