sealed beams -> ellipsoids -> HID

My car originally came with sealed beams and I swapped to ellipsoids late last year. I'm about to put in HIDs, but before I do that, I need to jump the fuse so it doesn't shut my low beams off when I go to my high beams and blow the HID bulbs out.

I searched but couldn't find anything, so there's either no thread or my search words sucked.

If someone could point me in a direction of a thread pertaining to this or give me advice on how to wire the fuses together, that'd be great.

You'll see #30 on the bottom of the two relays that have the red dot. run a wire from 30 on one to 30 on the other. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...3&postcount=47

You'll also find with this mod, that the fog lights will stay on also when the highs are put on.

I just got my HIDs and installed them.
Only problem I had was that I didn't know where to put the amp things, so I just put them behind the lights. Should I leave them there or will they get too hot?

if you look right behind the lights, you'll see a small open space that you can just zip tie the ballasts too and call it a day ...

                Cheers

Did you put them inside the plastic cover that you put behind the lights, or did you have them outside? I have an iX, so I don't have as much space as you regular E30 guys

i've got a 91 ix and I just did away with those covers and put them on the metal right under the headlights. The picture shows where I put the ballast on the driver side of my ix ... yes I know its dirty, but its a work in progress.

hope this helps stud ... cheers

Great pick, do you have any photos of how the wires connect? I have 3 wires on my car harness and only two connecting to the HID's. I tried every combination to get them to work and couldnt figure it out.

                        Your help is much appricated.

                        Thanks,
