    City light, Canadian headlight ?

Here is the deal, I bought a canadian car (lowbeams on whenever the ignition is on) w/ sealed beams. I am in the process of hooking up my euro ellipsoids. How can I hook up my city lights to be on when the ignition is on but have my low beams off until I pull the light switch?

    Thanks is Advance,

I'm in the same boat as you.
You'll have to rewire your headlights like the way they came on US cars.

Your headlights go out when you pull it to the middle or "running lights" spot.

Then you can wire your city lights off of the side markers.

I always drive with my lights in that spot until i need to put on my headlights.

They are, you can just turn the dial down and they become nearly invisible during the day.

i cant live with having to do that. i think i might be able to find the diode that converts canadian cars to running lights. disconnecting it should turn them off and be exactly like american cars.

              I don't think they use a diode...

                  Oh..
Well then I might be completely lost with my car.
It's a '91 US-Spec car, imported to Montreal in '96 and they wired my ignition wire and low-beam wires together.
And I need to bring it back to stock...

I've heard its a relay used only on Canadians cars, I cannot confirm/deny this though. Although i suspect this is the case seeing as the wiring on all my cars match us spec e30's and wiring diagrams and as far as i know there are no country specific wiring diagrams that I've seen.

When I used to live in Vancouver BC and worked in a shop we use to install DRL in non DRL cars to meet inspection with a DRL module.

Might want to check under your dash and see if there is a module spliced into the switch wiring.
