high + low beams at the same time?

hi all, i tried searching for this but was unable to find a diy thread (though i thought one already existed for it). is there a write up out there regarding how to not have the low beams auto-turn off when the high beams are on?

(it is annoying because if i have my high beams on for an extended period of time, and then i switch back to my low beams, the ballasts for my hids need to warm up again so i essentially have to pull over for 30 seconds or drive without lights.)

    thanks,
    aurash

your HIDs take 30 seconds to warm up? What brand are they?

your low beams shut off when you turn your high beams on? Every bmw i've ever owned has them both on at the same time. I've owned 3 e36's (2 93's, 1 '94), and 2 E30s (86, 87)

apparently the car you purchased hs had the lights upgraded from sealed beam headlights to ellipsoidal headlights. Its an easy DIY job where you jump the high beam relay and thats it. Problem solved.
