Question about installing euro ellips

I just got a set of euro ellips and I found Ryans writeup on how to install them in a sealed beam car. Since my car is a 1990 and his is a 1987 is there any difference in the writeup? Also, do I need to run a jumper wire between the low beam and high beam relay?

Taken from the webpage NOTE: The only step left is altering the relay wiring so all 4 lights come on when you engage the high beams. Note: This is not required for the lights to work and if done improperly could be dangerous and damaging.

yes you need the jumper wire, but the modification is extremely easy. I made a jumper cable from some 16 gauge wire, stuck the ends into the proper pins (it's in Ryan's guide) and plugged the relays up top. It works great! I soldered the ends of the wires flat, keeps the end from fraying and shorting out somewhere. that also makes it easier to plug the relay on top.

as a side effect your foglights will stay on too, but that's no big deal really, unless you really want to blind an asshole driver. :twisted:

Got the connectors? The wiring is real easy (you can figure it out from the Bentley), but you need the connectors for the Euro lights.

You don't need the low beams on when you have your high beams on, it's pretty pointless.

Yeah, i've found it to be kind of a pain to not have lows on while i've got the highs on...i've got plenty of straight forward light...but like nothing beside me. So, hope Bambi is sleeping while i'm on the road.

I've just never been dissatisfied with the amount of light from just the high beams.

Now, if my fogs were constantly on...that'd be another story.

You can also pop the top of the fusebox and splice the wires together.

You WILL want the lows to stay on. With my euros the highs shoot a very long narrow beam that doesnt light the sides or the road anywhere near my car. Properly aimed their mainbeam should begin where the lows end.

Wire colors are the same on sealed beams according to feedback on my writeup.

Bill, I have all of the connectors to install the lights. I also have a set of french fogs waiting to go in :D On a side note...what bulbs is everyone running in their ellips? I want to get some silverstars in the future but need to know what to run in them now.

Just get regular H1s then. The selection sucks normally. If they are brand new they come with some Hella H1s that I suspect are 80 watt because they were DAMN bright but yellowish. I want to get some 80w yellow bulbs for my fogs now, they are useless to me now other than actual fog.

Look for my writeups to move to BEN most likely, I think I will be pulling the site down. The house I am moving to the hosting company doesnt offer static IPs to retail consumers and I dont know if I will be able to access their routers like I can Comcasts.
