Brand new HID Bulb went out

DDMtuning's 55w Apexcone 6000k HID kit. Pass. side took a crap on me out of no where. Working, turned the car of, turned it on 20 minutes later and it's been inop. ever since. Any suggestions of where to check first? Bulb and work my way back through the wiring?

Something to note: Both drivers and pass. ballasts made a bit of a humming (from my Electrician back ground, not totally un-common with ballasts) and the pass. after it went out, makes absolutely no noise now.

My guesses are that it's on the wiring side. Just curious if anyone else encountered this and could shed some "light" ... (har har har)

Try flipping the OEM BMW wire where it goes into the wiring harness on its way to the ballast, that solved my issue, assuming of course that your bulb isn't broken.

Also, keep in mind that you should never touch the bulb, the oil from your skin can get on the bulb and cause a hot spot, often leading to the bulb shorting or breaking.

They give a year or more warranty, just have them send a replacement, try placing the bulb on the other side and see if it works

I'm going to bet you blew the fuse. They have to be upgraded to 10 amps, especially with 55 watts.

i was under the impression that the 55W kits used less amps then the 35W kit...cant remember who or where it was said though

ok just a update.... I swap my pass side ballast with the driver side ballast. Then all of a sudden both of them work and all i did was swap them. Weird and thoughts? Im just happy it works and dont have to deal with calling them.

One of my ballast's wasn't/isn't working. I ordered another kit in case I can't get this one to work with what you tried. I only switched the working side to the inop. side to check the bulb. I'll try putting the bad ballast on the other side to check it once more.

Just swap your good working bulb onto the dead side and that will tell you if it's a bulb issue or if it goes deeper. Assuming it's not the bulb (it's usually not the bulb) switch the ballasts to see it's the ballast. If the same side side stays out regardless of which ballast you use you have wiring issues, if the lights out side switches, it's the ballast. Fuses need to be upgraded regardless though, the HID kits don't use much amperage while running but that initial ignition spark takes quite a toll...

FWIW, I am running 55w HID's in my low beams and 35w HID's in my fog lights, both on stock fuses and no issues have come up yet.

I've been running the 55w kit for a LONG time without upgraded fuses.
