I used these kind of LEDs for my cluster:

You need these with side facing LEDs since that's how the cluster is lit up (from the sides). Had to remove the orangle bulb covers since these are abit taller than normal incandescents, however, the color at night is still the same. Only that the odometer numbers follow the LED color which in my case are white.

Not super bright, but I like the fact that they are LEDs and are not generating loads of heat in the fragile/old cluster.

Do you have any pictures of your cluster with the LEDs?

Not at the moment. I'll be home in about a week's time if you want one.

Wow, thats pretty cool. electroluminescent gauges. why didn't George Graves make these first? They would have been cheaper and with great documentation.

I have put in a set of red LED's in my car instead of the amber LED's. They are a bit brighter, and cannot be changed a ton for brightness but you can change the low end a bit, but they are a really nice red and I left the lower amber deflecters in, so they don't bother your eyes much at all.
Pictures in a couple of hours.

Hi all. I wanted to revive this rather than to start a new thread (and get hammered by admin)...

I have my dash out right now and I'm in the process of replacing ALL bulbs before I put it together again. I would like to replace w/ LED - right now leaning towards removing all orange filters and replacing with red (otherwise keeping it white).

Could someone lend their expeirience and knowledge to give a full shopping list??

                  2721 replacement for cluster, correct?

is this the same for the HVAC and other bulbs?

                  How many bulbs in total?

                  Thank you!!!

                  Cheers,

                  Henry

I put in 6 LED, 194 bulbs. Way brighter, produces no heat. Bought them from superbrightleds.com

                      Awesome! Thanks so much, Goose.

                      So 6 #194 for non-cluster lights
2 #2721 replacements for cluster ( plan on removing the orange plasic an getting red or amber bulbs).

I know the cluster 2721 need to be 360 deg angle, but do you happen to recall which #194 replacements you used? There are so darn many options! I just worry about not getting enough "angle-age" and having shadows. There is also "polarized" or "non-polarized." I am assuming "non-polarized"?

This is what I'm looking at - hopefully someone can provide feedback [Note: brightess is not an issue for me since I usually have them pretty dim - I just want even/full lighting]

Ok subscribed, all my dash lights are out right now, my alternator sent a spike and left me with no lighting. I'll be home for a week by the end of August and plan to do the bulb swap. Melloh keep us posted and show us pics.

                        Thanks

Well, first thing to note is that I have the #'s reversed - the 194 is for the 2 large bulbs in the Cluster. The 2721 are the small ones.

I got my order from superbrightleds.com.

The Festoon bulb they have for our car is the wrong size - too long (I was lazy and just made it fit, though). Don't use their vehicle selector to pick the festoon bulbs.

Also, NONE of the ones I got work with the dimmer switch. That sucks.... I just emailed superlumination/autolumination.com to see if theirs will work.

                          This is what I ordered

Be sure to check that they turn on because the ones I got are polarized - I had to flip a few over. I also had to mod the mounts a bit to make more solid contact by slightly bending the metal tabs. A couple I had to file down rough edges of the LED circuit board.

No pics yet... and when I do, it will be with a cell phone unfortunately!
