Cracked one of my hella H4s

Need to replace my low beams.

Are Hella H4s still considered one of the better options? If so, anybody know a good website (or store in the Portland area) that sells them cheap?

Other options I should look at?

    Thanks,

    Carl

Discount Import Parts off of 99E in Milwaukee (sp?) has them in stock. I think they're like $50 for each housing... about the same as online.

      Thanks Ken.

What about those clear protective strips you put over your lights to protect against rocks? Does anybody use them? I saw some on Bavauto for what looked like way too much money to be worth it.

Ive been using Hella H4 for years and loved them but I recently bought a set of smileys and whoa, what a difference. Its about the same difference from going from sealed to H4s. Drastic. If you still want the H4's, ive seen them on Amazon at good prices. PIAA intense bulbs like to go in there.

Yes, they are way too much from BavAuto.

I have them for less than half, sized to fit Euro and US lights. Clear 30 mil, very nice. I get them from the same supplier, but have them cut to fit BMW lights, they are 5.21" diameter, no cutouts, just a perfectly round disc.

$20 + $3 S&H a set of four, how many do you need? (answer- four).

OK, I just received a PM asking for pics, finally got off of my foundation to take some.

I took pics of the film on the bench, front and back sides, with the paper still on it; they are clear. XPEL makes it, it comes with their guarantee.

Second is a set of Cibie CSRs on my car, film has been on them for almost two years so you might see bug residue on them. Look at the edge of the glass, it's hard to see them (that's the whole idea).

I have placed a standing custom order with them for the specific sizes to cover European size headlights (146 mm and 176 mm, a nominal size designation), they cut the actual diameter of the lights or the lenses which I specify. And yes, it's less expensive than other folks, and I think it's a good value ($6 per light, versus new lights for $$$$).

I know, this is an old thread, but relevant if rocks still get thrown and glass still shatters.

I've had the film on my lights since new (10 years). When I replaced them 18 months ago, the glass was still perfect. I had to replace them cause they were getting a bit foggy. I wash them frequently and don't always take the highest level of care, like tons of soapy water and a clean cloth. I just hit them with the windshield squeegee at the gas station, not always the cleanest water. They held up nicely even under this kind of abuse for 8 1/2 years, I figure they deserved to be retired.

Anyway, hope this answers the need for more information, pictures are worth 1K works, as they say.

laminx is still pretty pricey for a cutout set even with 15% off. Not sure why it has to be $40 for clear plastic with adhesive backing nothing innovative about it.
