what years are elipsoidal?

what years/models will fit our cars? There are a few bone yards around here I would like to check out... sorry i'm sure this has been covered but couldnt find it in my rush.

Any E30 ellipsoid will fit your car but will require a bit of rewiring. They were standard in 88-89.

E32 and E34s also, but only the lights, the buckets don't fit.

Maybe in the USA but not Canada; my car didn't come with and it's 06/89 which makes it a 1990 325is. it was available through 88-92(vert)

it goes by model year. 06/89 is a 1990, not a 1989.

So a 1990 US 325i came with sealed beams? if so, why did they go from elipsoids in 88-89 back to sealed beams?

cost. US safety regulations required airbags in 1990 (or those stupid automatic seatbelts). They were already overpriced, and had to make it up somewhere.

my car's a 89 325i and the po musta pulled them out for a set of 55 watt hella reflectors

the hella H1/H3 setup are probably better than US ellipsoids anyway.

I agree with nando on H1/H4 being better.
Everyone seems to want the ellipsoid look and go to HID's however. I don't understand why.
