First ever DOT-compliant LED headlight system - installed in an E30 is how this thread was originally begun.
Not entirely sure being rude about that was necessary. If you've got something constructive to discuss, join the conversation. If you want to throw rocks, please, not interested.- Rob Levinson * UUC Motorwerks * 678-679-5360 * http://www.uucmotorwerks.com * rob@shortshifter.com

No. Honda headlights use a light temperature (color) that is considered appropriate for "enthusiast" driving. The color temperature is somewhere around the 6000°K point, too close to the blue-purple which means lower contrast perception by the human eye. What do sharpshooters wear... purple glasses or yellow?Matt

if no one critiques what you are doing, your product wont be as good. 'throwing rocks' IS discussion. i haven't bashed you are your product, i've simply asked questions and tried to clear things up. if you aren't falsely advertising, you should have no reason to get worried.

However, how the hell is is product "less good" if it wasn't first with DOT approval? How is UUC supposed to improve on that? I'm all for factual accuracy, and if something like incorrect lumen ratings were posted, you bet I would be right there raising a shitstorm with everyone else, but your just being an ass for the sake of being an ass.-Dave

I think its great that you are working on this lighting setup but I also think they are very ugly and dont really fit with the design of the car.
Is there any reason they cant be a little larger? any way to make a glass lens like the OE lens that allow the lights to function the way they are meant to but also helps disguise the bare look of the setup? i think this would help its fit the overall design of the car more, if possible.
You argue that these lights arent for looks only for function but at that rate you are really just narrowing your target audience. The appearance actually does matter regardless of whether or not you think so. I think that you could also make these aesthetically pleasing while still maintaining function.
I also think that at that price the parts like the lens should be replaceable, without having to buy an entirely new unit.

I am just going to take a guess here as I am not an engineer but, with the amount of people already being squemish about price I can not imagine how much more it would cost to further engineer the product to 1 have a replacable lens and 2 design a lens that will "hide" the LEDS but also be functional enough to give them brightness desired.
Rob, if you can do all that and make them for less than a set of Euro Smileys were all in (tongue in cheek)Brian Jacobs

But seriously... Rob, awesome product. I am not a huge fan of the looks, but the function looks to be incredible. Can't wait to see vids.
To those complaining about looks... he already stated form over function, no need to keep beating that horse. Yes, he is limiting his audience... but I think the price did that more than the looks. Let it go..."A good memory for quotes combined with a poor memory for attribution can lead to a false sense of originality."
