Euro Smiley Lense Gasket = EVIL!

What is the easiest way to remove that stubborn gasket that holds the headlight lense on? I recently acquired some Hella Euro Smiley's and during shipping the drivers side lowbeam lense was broken(damn post office). I have another one on the way, yes it was insured and have gotten some of the money from the insurance back. But trying to get that gasket crap off is a mother. The best way I have found so far is to use a dremel with a sanding brush thing to grind it away. But when I do that I am afraid that I will grind through the housing part, and I don't want to do that.
Any advice? I have been using a blow-drier but with no avail. Any thoughts?

Have the post office pay for more than a new lens and have someone else do the dirty work.

so you already have the broken lense out? I'm not sure how you would get the glue itself out, the highbeams are easy because it's smooth metal but the lows are plastic and the surface the glue is on is textured so it won't come off easily.

Well, it was insured up to 150, which I paid for them, and I got like 80 bucks for it and they guy I got them from is sending me a replacement from Germany, which will be a week before I get it. I'm not sure if he is sending just the lense or the entire housing.... :?
So I am just trying to get that gasket crap of incase he sends me just the lense.
Think goo-gone will do the trick?....going to go try that in a few minutes.
I'll keep you updated...any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the glass I got off was just little pieces that were stuck in the glue that poked over to where the lense flattens/bubbles to go over the entire assembly (make any sense).

unlikely that he is sending you just the lense, but he might be just sending a low beam assembly. I'd just wait for it to arrive and save yourself a potential headache. you can swap the new low beam assembly into your housing in like 5 minutes..

I was going to use the Mr. Lense lense kit. They are pretty good from what I have heard. They are made of acrylic and not glass though. From what the company says about them is that they don't chip....but I'm kind of iffy about that now...

I have the Mr. Lens acrylic lenses on my foglights - they have held up well. I'd be a bit iffy about replacing the smiley lens with an acrylic one. The smiley lens has a lot of patterning on it.
