US vs. Euro lighting fight! What do you think?

US Ellips lowbeam headlight vs. Euro Ellips lowbeam headlight.
Eiko 9005 conversion vs. Oscram Silverstar H1.

Which would you prefer? Which do you think is better? What puts out more light?

I'm at work, but I have pictures at home, and will put them up in about 2 hours. Let's see what people think though.

cutoff on the h1 is better, and the fs boards have been flooded with euros. i'd pick up a set of those.

if you want to use logic....

which are readily available here. are stock on our cars in certain years, and the "mod bulbs" are readily available and cheap?

it's funny how many people gave crap about switching up from euro to us, yet I'd doubt no not many have compared them side by side themselves......

like abdul said, the cutoff is better. but i think with higher wattage bulbs and appropriate wiring, us ellips are fine. us ellips+hids > euros.

Also, US ellips with HIDs > Euro ellips with HIDs. The beam pattern is damn identical (I've seen them lined up, I'm not making this up), and the US flat cutoff is much more friendly to right-lane freeway inhabitants.

I sold my Euro smilies for like $350USD recently, going to get some Hella H4's.

I was really surprised how much light the 9005s put out. I could barely tell the headlights apart.

I think it is easier to drive at night with the US ones. Either work. And for most, US are cheaper and crap. Oh well. I didn't go to US for more light or anything, I just didn't care anymore for the city light and accepted some $ to trade.

Right lane friendly or not, the euro cutoff makes seeing road signs and the side of the road much easier. I also think that the city lights are cool.

An H1 5000K HID kit is only $150... and I assume the 9006 ones are priced the same. I say go with the HIDs. I can't wait to get the replcaement smiley parts so I can put them and the HID kit into my car.

                        What kit was $150?

My ProLumen kit was $260 shipped and that was a sweet deal

I like them US ellips better....

HIDs. Who needs em? I can see fine with either ellips. Maybe not so much sealed beams, but I'm in the city.....there's usually enough light to drive by anyway.

Are the brighter Robert or pretty much the same?

I know the high beams on US ellips own euro highs

I think they are brighter. Definately a better spread of light and pattern, IMO. Cutoff or not.
