hey wait a minute. whoever originally made this thread, hooked up the original headlight wires straight to the ballast. Jaywood in your thread you take out the wires out of the suciton cup, and hook them up the the original wires and take the other plug from the suction cup and plug THAT into the ballast. Why did you take the wires out and seal up the holes? I dont really understand, I really compared the 2 walkthroughs and they are both different. please someone help this has been delayed long enough
Realize this is an old thread, but it was useful to me, so here's some additional answers. I just put the depo smileys + ddm 35W 4500K HIDS into a 93 325iC with oem sealed beam lights.
The DDMs I got came with red / black instead of blue / black. Black goes to brown and red goes to white/yellow on my car. The blue / white should be capped off. You don't need any adapters. I pulled the red/black through the rubber gasket as described here and have the ballasts mounted on some double sided foam tape for now.
Make sure the separate adjuster from the depos is installed properly. there is a black cap that you have to first take off, then thread the screw through, pop the black cap back on the screw, then line it all up with the hole and tighten until the black cap snaps into the receiving ring. This lets you adjust height / angle in and out. If this stuff isn't all snapped into place the light could bounce / vibrate around and break sooner.
