One blinker blinks faster

This is r3v.

Mine like to spazz out and both work, but blink crazy fast. Contacts are dirty. I slap the front bumper and it goes to normal. Sucks, but I'm to lazy to fix it.

I have this problem too, I changed out the bulbs in the front and rear.. and still no dice. Mine happened after I took a sharp right into a bumpy road. So.. I guess i'm going to try out cleaning the connection.

hahaha.... I did the same thing for atleast 2 years, until I got pulled over by the polizei when my blinker decided to not work at that moment.


OP. clean out the contacts where the bulb sits in the socket.

And yet with all that research and knowledge you bought a car with the notorious double blink prob. Man I feel for you. Actually, it may even say in the owners manual that if your blinker blinks fast a bulb is going out.... At least in my e90 it does, but I have never seen an e30 O.M.

E30 owners manual is a rare beast. I troll junkyard cars in search of them, along with tool kit tools. I have maybe 4 manuals, but that equates to only 1.5 full copies. I ran out of paste, and the moldy pages aren't too good for the lungs.

Well after learning a SHIT TON about e30s, the mysterious blinkers seem to have eluded you

So.. I guess i'm going to try out cleaning the connection.

This. A notorious issue on E30s. Remove the bumper. Clean the connection between the body harness and the turn signal pigtails. This and replacing the bulb should get you squared away.

Removing the bulb itelf is child's play. Remove the 2 phillips-head screws in the turn signal lense. Twist and remove bulb. Installation, however requires use of a welder, and two other people.

Not trying to thread jack but I have a similar issue.

My front left turn signal blinks really fast also. The thing is, when my lights aren't on, all bulbs work fine, they just blink fast like one is out. When I turn my lights on. The front light will come on but won't blink with my turn signal on but the side repeaters and rear work? I'm pretty stumped but it started after I put my new bumper on so I wonder if the harness isn't plugged in properly?
