Just seal to the back of the projector. Everything behind the midline of the projector is sealed up. You'll see when you get them.

If you want to see what I did in the meantime, scroll down.

Do you have a photobucket album you could link? The images all show up as "bandwidth exceeded". Thanks!

OK, I am now in the process of picking up a second set of Euro ellipsoid lights for this (used, from another member). If I have to use the ones that are in-use now, it will never happen. Once I am done, maybe I will make up some adapters & sell the extra set with them to recover some costs.

Interested, I'd like to dump my DDM setup and get a true Projector in there.

Heh, I've been contemplating this for sometime now. I'm expecting you to come up with something awesome judging how meticulous you are.

LOL having said that, I'm going to sit back and watch.

            P.S.

A buddy of mine is giving me his low beam u.s. ellipsoid. Let me know if you want one to play around with.

I am hoping to come up with something over-the-top for this retrofit. We'll see if I have the anal-retentiveness to actually do it! I paid for the spare set of ellipsoids today, and will hopefully be getting them from Germany in the next couple of weeks. That should give me time to remedy some ugly timing chain noises since those are probably more important to deal with.

I bet if you used some hella e55 lenses or something similar it would mate up pretty easily to a bosch projector housing. They are already designed for an oval projector mirror where as the old hella mirrors are round.

Heh, never even considered E55 Hella's.

                  Check this out:

Retrofitting the E55 projectors made by Hella became a BimmerBoard rush back in early 2010 when Edwin posted his retrofit. I have owned my E55 projectors and lenses since April 2010. I finally got to the project. I did the upgrade on my mom’s 2000 E38 back in July 2010, so I have known first-hand,

Alrighty...I received the FX-R assemblies & bulbs. Now I am waiting for the second set of Euro light housings.

From inspecting the FX-R assemblies, there are all sorts of openings where water & dust can get in & onto the reflector. I will be working out a way to hermetically seal these as a part of this project.

I will probably need a bit of both. The Koito sealer will be good for the adapter plate where the assembly bolts on. At the same time, there are openings in it that will be outside of the E30 housing, and the big rubber light condom thing, or something like it, will be needed.

I have some e55 projectors if anyone wants to mess with them. They are actually pretty big though. I just ended up getting a set of fx projectors and keeping the balast and bulbs from the e55 to use with the FX stuff.
