so after switching to euros im going back to the us ellips. the lows are a LITTLE bit better and the highs arent as good. no need for me to go HID as my us ellips are BRIGHT. i might look into some hotter bulbs and1 have 9005/6 recommendations?

I am curious as to what would be a great H1 bulb for my euro ellipsoids as well.

I don't understand why people think hella projectors don't work well with HID's. If you've discovered something new about parabola's please share. As long as the capsule is in the same location as the tungsten filament then the beam pattern will be the same. Granted minor variations from placement of the lead wires and refractions from the bulbs shape. If the lighting is worse its because your $30 hid kit probably does not have the capsules in the proper locations. If your worried about glare the swap out your clear lenses. I'm sure you'd have no problem finding someone to trade you. Also if you want city lights but prefer the us cutoff like i do the us hella lens assembly will bolt right in to the euro projectors including the newest generation with the advance smilley lighting.

All that being said i'm still developing a plug and play bi-xenon retrofit. lol

$35 HID in US Ellip kicks ass. Too high a wattage makes them glare bad, but the cheapies kick ass.

I've always hated the cut off of euro Ellips. I now have us Ellips and I actually like them alot better. I'll probably get ddm hids on these as well

I have two E30s, one with US ellips and one with Euro ellips (both with DDM kits). Neither one has any "fitment issues" with anything and the bulbs are sealed as they should be. I currently (temporarily) have Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in my US ellips and I can PROMISE you that my HID's have MUCH better output than these halogen bulbs.

Now don't get me wrong, I have seen your lights and I know that your projectors are more ideal and give the best output but you can not just say everything else is garbage.
Im not saing other are garbage , thats like me saying if i had a s50 swap that all other engines are crap.

I never had fitment issues with my US ellips , but I did with my euro boschs. I never knew or cared until I started to read up more about like being centered correctly and the right bulb spacing. Dont get me wrong DDM has great kits for the cost. Ive had 5 sets and only a few times the bulbs went bad, but after getting new d2r style bulbs for my fx-rs and noticed how shitty centered they were i just tossed them out.

These guys make the next to best hid bulbs/ballast next to OEM

All and all Im sure with some good cleaning and maybe a different lens the e30 ellipsoid can do some good work. That being said im not ragging on them.

on a side note , I have my left over euro projectors for sale :D

They were installed in one of my cars when i bought it. Definitely brighter then stock. I had a set of HIDs laying around so i swapped. The kits are so cheap i usually end up buying a complete set if i want to change the color.

Put the US cutoff in to the euro reflector. Straight bolt on replacement.

i have had sealed beams and euro smileys, i'm about to put N/A ellips with plug & play hids (55w 4300k). Euro ellips are nice but still too dim.

Euro smilies with the US ellipsoid cutoff sounds perfect to me.
