On a similar note, is the US Cutoff upside down in the housing because the parabola reverses the light? Or am I just crazy? The vent and everything is lined up properly, logos are all right-side-up.

So if I didn't want to disassemble my Euro high beam to get at the cutoff (I would need to, right?), is it possible to just switch the whole light out for a US-spec one? This sounds like a cool little trick.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one? Info, photos, videos, and more can be found at www.michaelsvintageracing.com!

Also, I just discovered HIR bulbs and they look to be just about the perfect thing. 75-110% more light than a 9005 or 9006 bulb without using any extra power or producing any extra heat. AND they're about $30 each!

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you asking if you can use the US spec assembly? There would be no point to just swap out the entire low beam housing into a euro assembly.Comment

GE has been using the technology for more than a decade for outdoor and industrial lighting, and Toshiba was licensed the patent to produce automotive bulbs. I'll admit that it sounds pretty too-good-to-be-true, but I've been reading a variety of reviews and the consensus appears to be that they're the next best thing to HID.Interested in vintage cars?
