    HID Ellips to Smiley question

I have been running DDM HID kit in my US Ellipsoids for almost two years without much to complain about. I have a set of Bosch Smileys coming in and was wondering what my options were for HID's for it. Obviously the bulb is different but I was wondering if I could just order the H1 bulb for it and plug it into the ballast and be done with it or am I going to have to reorder everything to make it all kosher.

I have been doing to searching around and it seems that theretrofitsource.com make a pretty nice kit but could I buy just the bulbs or would I have to go for the whole kit?

    Thanks in advance guys.

as long as the connectors on the bulbs are the same, you should just have to get new bulbs.

I fit morimoto mini H1 hids in my depos. Maybe you can fit them in the others as well?

Depos as in the replica light housings or depo HID kit? Because i would not mind moving over to morimoto minis, I just don't want to fork over the the money for the full kit.

In other news, the H1 lights will work with the 9006 ballast connections but shipping costs the same as the bulbs so I am pretty torn.

Any more input on the situation would be great!

I put them in Depo smoked euro replicas. I'm not sure if they are identical to US elips or hella/bosch elips.

I used dremel and ended up making tiny little brackets and trimming tiny areas of the housings. It all sealed up pretty well using the original housing.

But I am not asking whether or not the H1 kit will fit the Smilies, I was asking if the different bulb types would work with my ballasts or if a different brand bulb with my current ballast.

Yes they will. The bulb type for HID retrofit kits like DDM is just the base style so that it fits in your lamps. The connectors are all the same type to fit your ballasts.
