    anyone try led headlights yet?

came across these when looking for rv dome lights

seems cheap, would use less power than hids and could be much brighter if it wanted to.

I had been under the impression before that it was expensive but it seems cheap as can be.

I havent tried these but thatd be cool if someone could review them.

Those would likely be no where NEAR bright enough to use as headlights. Note how it says it's a fog light bulb. Even as fog lights, they would likely be dimmer then standard bulbs. You need multiple 3-watt LED's per housing to reach incandescent levels of light. This bulb is only 5.5 watts.

      gotcha

what is the number were looking for for a headlight bulb?

Im actually doing this project for my rv, as all power saved is going into deep cycle power.

for my bmw it seems less important because all power saved.... is just wasted.

I want some led headlights for my toyota truck more.

There is no such thing as a cheap LED headlight. Forget about it.

if you buy a cheap led plug in bulb, it will look like you have bright running lights installed

LED bulbs do not produce enough lumens for acceptabale illumination.

At least not in a form factor that will fit into a standard housing.

LED headlights are great when they are purpose built.

can these be used to act as daytime running lights in the high beams.

I plan on installing bi-xenon in the lows in the winter.

Sure. Although you would have to modify them a little to work in a 9005 base.

ya actually for my real purpose, the toy truck its not even available.

an led bi h4 type thing doesnt exist with brights.

For what bmw 325csi suggested thats what the ones i listed are for.

If you dont have a use for saving alternator power it is less relevant.

but in an rv its like free money.

for an older car there are uses you can engineer for extra electricity.

But the smartest would be to somehow downgrade the alternator and get more hp.

once those headlights are gone, the alternator can be a fraction of its size.

UUC has an LED headlamp for the E30. Super expensive and ugly.
